Design for Six Sigma

Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) is a quality mangement methodology which is used to receive as many error-free processes and products as possible.

Commercially available products are duplicated and low-budget produced more and more rapidly anywhere in the world. Concurrently, most products and services tend to combine more and more functions, forced by increasing customer requirements. That means development processes become even more complex.

In many cases, classic development processes can't cope with requirments of budget, speed of commercial launch and quality. There's a lack of a systemwhich supports methodically every development task from identification of customer requirments to the beginning of production respectively service delivery, flanked by an excellent project management.

Design for Six Sigma asses this point. Design for Six Sigma finally describes the way how to place the right product on the market at the right time with the best quality as possible at an acceptable price and with an adequate margin.

Enterprises, which cope with these requirements, will be tomorrow's winners. This assumes, that important customer requirements are absolutely understood and are set in technical product characteristics. These technical product characteristics (parameter of design) have to be concerted, to be evaluated and optimised against the background of technogical possibilities. This includes an analysis and evaluation of the most important competitors.
